Draping paper - Engulfed by the unborn

Putting theory to practice
Can you actually drape paper on a body – of would I need to transfer this technique to a fabric with paper properties? Is there a way of strengthening the folds or permanently press the indents in?

This is the second drape I did with the paper structure. Though I’ve only done 2 drapes, I feel really inspired and driven towards this technique. It’s just completely out of this world and looks completely different to anything I’ve ever done before. There is just so much scope to what I can do with this technique.

Is it too much – Yes I think it is too much – but the direction and angles of every fold is what I think makes it look so incredible.  After refinement and consideration, I can picture this technique to be of something extraordinary and ground breaking.
There sre so many areas to explore :-
  • What happens if it was in colour, or several colours
  • What will happen if this was made in fabric
  • What about thhe size and scale of each fold
  • Is it one single sheet of paper- is it it seveal
  • What other fold can i explore
  • ... and on, and on, and on
With so many questions to answer... i primarily based my freestyle structure on this concept.... What next ..? Making it big of course !

  1. i can see the above going onto a cat walk... guess it won't need to be ironed as it is designed with all the creases and folds... sheet wise, it looks too complex to be a single sheet. atleast two i think
