Throughout my undergrad, I have been experimenting with paper folding to generate ideas and shapes. Having gained that experience and practice through the years- I thought this session would be a piece of cake… oh how wrong was I…
For the first time in this module- I felt mentally challenged and drained by the concept of folding inverts to generate a 3D paper folded shape.
After several practice on scrap paper – I decided to challenge myself further more by creating a 2meter long paper fold. Images below are of my folded structure. For this I have used normal sugar paper and because of its property, the shape could still be moulded, bent and twisted to form very interesting shapes. The surface of each section also carry different reflections to light, and I think its these ‘valley’ and ‘mountain’ dents that make the piece so alive.
Where next? Shall we try draping it on a body?
woooowwwww, you must of got alot of paper cuts,,nice work
